Try dive
Starting from the age of 8 we offer try dives for both kids and adults under guidance of a qualified instructor. Not in large groups but just one on one with an instructor. You dive about 20 or 30 minutes to a maximum depth of 6 meters. During this dive you will of course see many fish and almost always an octopus as well. Before we head out to the boat, we give you the gear you need for diving. You put on the wetsuit (you need to bring a swimsuit) and then we explain exactly (in your own language; English, Dutch, French or German) what will happen during the try dive, what all the equipment is for and what you should and shouldn't do while diving. Then we go on a boat trip of about 15 to 20 minutes towards the dive site. You go down one by one with an instructor. The instructor takes it nice and slow so you can get used to everything. He will first let you tryout breathing with the regulator (mouth piece) right at the surface. Not until you give the signal, will the instructor take you down for your first dive. The instructor will take care of everything while you are diving, so you can focus on everything you see and enjoy the dive. When you are not diving, you can do some snorkelling, as this is also included in the price. All in all a try dive takes you about 2,5 hours (1 to 1,5 hours at the dive site).
Courses (medical statement and a third party liability insurance are required in France)
If you have already made up your mind and want to be certified as a diver, there are several options. We offer courses for the organizations PADI and CMAS. These organizations provide courses according to one or the other system of the 2 systems known to the dive industry (the system of the RSTC on the one hand and the system of CMAS on the other). Both systems focus on short dive programs (theory and practical training) containing the requirements to become a real diver. We recommend PADI to divers that want to dive all over the world and CMAS to divers that mainly dive in France. You can start your education from the age of 12!
If you're already thincking of doing a PADI course, you could start strait away with the theory online! Have a look at:
Advantage of e-learning is that you can do the theory at home and at your own pace. This way you will have more time for other fun things during your vacation. Moreover you'll be doing all the water sessions here in Argelès in nice warm water.
One thing that might also be interesting to consider, is to do the the pool (or shallow water)- sessions as well as the theoretical- sessions at home, and do only the 4 open water dives here in France. This is called a referral, which you can do at any PADI dive center. We also accept SSI-referrals.
May all of this bring up even more questions, we'll be happy to help you make the right choice. In any case, make sure to bring the right documents with you!
